‘Air water’ sold at Sec’bad railway station for Rs.5/ litre
Secunderabad: In a first-of-its-kind initiative by Indian Railways, South Central Railway has installed an ‘atmospheric water generator’ called ‘Meghdoot’ at Secunderabad Railway Station.
This technology is developed under ‘Make in India’ by Maithri Aquatech. It produces around 1,000 litres per day.

Meghdhoot’s mechanism
Water is harvested from the air, filtered and remineralized for drinking. Air is sucked in through the air filter. Moisture laden air passes over Condenser Surfaces. Water collects in Tank. Water produced fulfills World Health Organisation (WHO) standards
‘Meghdoot’ is installed under SCR’s green initiatives and water conservation measures. The system fulfills the safety norms of safe and healthy drinking water.
Price list
Passengers can avail by paying price ranging from ₹2 to ₹8.
It costs ₹8 per litre with a bottle and ₹5 per litre if passengers carry their own bottle.
For a 300 ml glass, it costs ₹3 with the container and ₹2 if passenger carries their own glass.
A 500 ml glass of water will cost ₹5 with the container and ₹3 if passenger carries their own glass.
